1. About these terms
These terms govern use of The Leathercraft Directory website, member accounts, directory listings, courses, events, enquiry forwarding and the optional annual support contribution. By using the website, creating an account or submitting content, you agree to these terms.
The website is operated by Sarie Enslin trading as The Leathercraft Directory (“the Directory”, “we”, “us” or “our”). Our email address is contact@theleathercraftdirectory.com. 2. What the Directory provides
The Directory is a specialist information and discovery service for the leathercraft sector. It helps visitors find makers, suppliers, training providers, event organisers, repair and restoration services, associations and specialist service providers. It may also publish linked course and event information.
The Directory does not sell members’ goods or services, handle bookings or commissions, sell event tickets, act as an agent, or become a party to any communication or transaction between a visitor and a listed member.
3. Eligibility and applications
- Applicants must be genuine businesses, sole traders, practitioners, organisations or providers operating within the leathercraft sector or supplying a clearly relevant specialist service.
- Applicants must provide accurate information sufficient for us to confirm genuine activity and suitability for the Directory.
- One organisation or practitioner should normally have one canonical listing, even where it performs several roles.
- Creating an account or submitting an application does not guarantee publication.
- We may request clarification, evidence or changes before deciding whether to publish a listing.
4. Accounts and security
You are responsible for keeping your account details accurate, protecting your password and recovery information, enabling and maintaining any required two-factor authentication, and notifying us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. Accounts are personal to the registered member and may not be transferred without our agreement.
Members use the front-end account area and must not attempt to access WordPress administration, another member’s account, records or images, or any restricted system function.
5. Listing information and member responsibilities
- Your listing must describe your own business, organisation, work, training, events or services truthfully and in a way that is not misleading.
- You must select only relevant roles, categories, service areas and attributes.
- You must keep published details reasonably current and complete the annual confirmation when requested.
- You decide which optional contact details to publish. You must not publish another person’s personal information without authority.
- Claims about qualifications, memberships, awards, certifications, authorised-stockist status or similar credentials must be accurate and may require evidence and manual review.
- Website links must lead to relevant, lawful and reasonably safe destinations.
6. Content standards
This directory is about presenting what you bring to leathercraft, not commenting on what somebody else does.
Content must be lawful, relevant, respectful and suitable for a professional directory. It may not:
- criticise, ridicule, accuse or disparage another person, organisation or competitor;
- contain false, deceptive, defamatory, threatening, hateful, discriminatory, obscene or unlawful material;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent ownership, qualifications, authority or commercial relationships;
- infringe copyright, trade marks, privacy, confidentiality or other rights;
- contain malware, deceptive links, spam, keyword stuffing or unrelated promotional material;
- promote prohibited or unsafe activity.
7. Review, publication and changes
New listings and material edits are subject to manual review. We may approve, return for changes, decline, temporarily hide or remove content where this is reasonably necessary to apply these terms, protect the site or its users, respond to inaccurate or unsupported information, or comply with law.
Where practical, we will explain what needs changing. A returned listing may be resubmitted. We may make minor formatting, spelling, accessibility or category corrections that do not materially change your meaning.
8. Images and permission
You must own the images you upload or have permission to use and license them for the purposes you select. You remain responsible for captions, credits, depicted people, personal data and third-party rights.
Images are used on your listing by default. Wider promotional use by the Directory is separate and optional. For each image, you must actively choose either listing-only use or permission for the Directory also to use that image to promote the Directory. Wider-use permission has no effect on approval, ranking, visibility, featured placement, contribution status or access.
Permission alone does not place an image. Wider use also requires administrator approval and an explicit editorial placement. You may change or withdraw permission through your image controls. Withdrawal prevents new placements. Existing historic or already-distributed editorial material may require administrative review rather than immediate technical removal.
9. Courses and events
Course and event information must be accurate, current and linked to an authorised member. Event submission is available to approved Event Organisers and members granted the separate “May Submit Events” capability. The organiser or provider remains solely responsible for dates, availability, safety, accessibility, prices, cancellations, bookings, refunds and delivery. The Directory does not sell tickets or take bookings.
10. Enquiries
The directory forwards your enquiry to the listed member where that option is enabled. The member is responsible for deciding whether and when to reply. The directory does not guarantee a response and is not a party to any communication, quotation, booking, commission or transaction that follows.
You must not use enquiry forms for spam, harassment, unlawful messages, bulk solicitation or attempts to obtain personal information improperly.
11. No endorsement
Inclusion in the directory confirms only that a listing was accepted under the directory’s eligibility and content rules. It does not constitute accreditation, certification, endorsement or a guarantee of goods, services, training, conduct or suitability.
Visitors must make their own enquiries and decisions before purchasing, booking, commissioning, attending or relying on a listed member’s information.
12. Free service and voluntary contribution
Listings, courses and events are free. Approved members may optionally contribute £5 towards the yearly cost of hosting, maintenance and security. This contribution is entirely voluntary and has no effect on your listing, visibility, placement, website links or access.
The contribution is a one-off payment, not a subscription and not a charitable donation. It does not purchase enhanced placement or additional directory rights. If you make a payment in error, contact us promptly. Nothing in these terms limits any refund or cancellation right that the law gives you.
13. Intellectual property
You retain ownership of content you submit. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, resize, format and display that content as needed to operate your listing and the Directory. Any wider image use depends on the separate permission described above.
The Directory’s name, branding, original site copy, design and software are protected by applicable intellectual-property rights. You may link to public pages, but may not copy substantial parts of the database, scrape member data, reproduce the service, or use Directory content or branding in a misleading way.
14. Availability and third-party services
We aim to keep the Directory available and accurate but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Maintenance, security incidents, hosting failures, plugin changes or events outside our reasonable control may interrupt service.
The site contains links to third-party websites and relies on third-party hosting, email, security, payment and directory services. We are not responsible for third-party content, availability, terms, privacy practices or transactions.
15. Suspension, removal and closure
We may restrict or close an account or hide/remove content where there is a material or repeated breach of these terms, a security risk, an abandoned or unconfirmed listing, an unresolved ownership issue, or a legal requirement. Where reasonable and safe, we will give notice and an opportunity to correct the issue.
You may ask us to close your account or remove your listing. Some information may be retained where required for legal, financial, security or evidential reasons, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
16. Responsibility and liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to that, the Directory is an information and introduction service. We are not responsible for a member’s goods, services, advice, training, event, conduct, availability, response, contract or transaction; for decisions made from third-party listing content; or for loss caused by a third-party website or service outside our reasonable control.
Business users are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups and insurance. We will not be liable to a business user for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, business, opportunity, goodwill or anticipated savings arising from use of the free Directory, except where the law does not permit that limitation.
17. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we use personal data, including account, listing, enquiry, image-permission, newsletter, security and payment-related information.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the service, law, security requirements or operating arrangements. The current version and effective date will appear on this page. We will give members reasonable notice of a material change where appropriate.
19. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you retain any mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings available under the law that applies where you live.
